Hey!
I'm back in Seattle and figured now was a good time to write a new blog post, so here we are!
Let's see. I'm taking three classes and two pseudo-classes. Here are short descriptions of them so far:
University Core 1000: Arts & Christian Community (although I think Art and Faith would have been a better title). My professor is Suzanne Wolfe and here are a couple words that describe her: sassy, British, old, radical, coarse (in reference to her tendency to swear like a pirate). So far I like her as a person, but her lecture style is unstructured and confusing, so I dislike that. But our homework is mostly to read modern literature/art and ponder it, so that's cool.
British Literature: Restoration - Victorian. Pretty much a heavy-reading class with dense literature (right now we're reading Pope and Rochester). I like the professor - Christine Chaney - she's very funny and keeps boring stuff interesting. I think this is going to be my toughest class because we cover so much.
The Sentence. This is a writing style class taught by Professor April Middeljans who I would describe as looking like a mother. She's kinda awkward and has a 90's haircut, but she's very sweet and interesting. I don't think I've been bored in this class yet, which is good. I thought I was going to be taking a grammar class, but I think I'm going to enjoy building my own style further. :)
Gospel Choir. Professor Stephen Newby teaches this class that only meets once a week (Tuesday in the evening). Although I joined mid-year and don't know how to sight-read sheet music AT ALL, I think I'm going to enjoy this class at all. It's not stressful at all, and I get to spend and hour and a half praising God, what more could I want?!
Newspaper. Overseen by Rick Jackson, Newspaper is sorta chaos. Even before all of the photographers except me left and our photo-editor left, the photographers had the short end of the stick, but now with me being the only photographer (and not having my heart in it), I think this semester is going to stink. Edit: there's a new girl joining as a photographer so I'm not COMPLETELY alone!
So those are my classes! I hope I love them all!
"Wonderful, they called me wonderful,
So I said, "Wonderful, if you insist.
I Will Be Wonderful" and they said, "Wonderful!"
Believe me, it's hard to resist!" - The Great and Powerful Wizard of OZ ("Wicked")
